Rider meeting over a very average Bfast. It’s a long hot ride today so the theme is ‘Ride (Hard!)’An hour out we are on a long straight 2 lane highway riding towards barren mtns which seem forever in the distance. As we approach, we get definition and we ride into a narrow entrance. Behold, a wondrous road winding thru a narrow, deep canyon with a river beside. Kern canyon. The riding is awesome. Singo & Boxy opened the throttle and led the charge. Fuck the formation. It was immaculate curving! The CEO, Russ, brought up the rear cleaning up our mess .Out of the canyon, stopped for a coffee (shocking) at Inyokern which might as well be a ghost town.

The Foxes now reverted to Desert mode as they entered Searle Valley. Things got tricky. It was a vast open space with large rock mtns painted on the horizon. It was hot & dry. Then a stealth bomber flies over followed by a FA18 which did a very low flight passover which scared us shitless. Desperate for water we stopped at Ballarat to discover it was a ghost town. We are dazed and confused so we pissed on the monument (not a tree to be seen). We pressed on regardless. Then conditions turned against us. The road became thick corrugated sand & gravel. Leaving no man behind we bounced along this track for 2 miles. We were in various degrees of disarray. After regrouping & therapy, the foxes put batteries to power & engines to speed. Time had to be made up. Boxy led us to great heights, about 5000ft, and then straight down to sea level into Death Valley NP. Seriously, people could die here. Unbelievably the road became like the felt on a pool table. We were hot & thirsty & emotional. Hydro suggested a quick frolic in the mesquite sand dunes before reaching our ranch home for the night at Furnace Creek. It should be noted the the financial affairs of the Foxes are well handled by our Treasurer Russ. Another beer please. Checked in & immediately rehydrated with beer at the bar. A couple of hours r&r and then a sunset ride to Dantes View over Badwater flats. Mighty fine country on a warm balmy night. Dinner at the hotel tonight. Las Vegas tomorrow. Bring it on!
