After much debate whether this was going to be a fox sanctioned tour, the Gibster pointed to a precedent being the round Australia Trip which Kevinn with two Ns was accepted as a temporary member, ergo as long as the intruder had a double letter in their name it would be fine. So Welcome Peterr D to the Cowra trip which has been meticulously engineered by Hydro to have maximum dirt, maximum kilometage and maximum aesthetics.
Friday got off to the usual Fox gathering. Hydro rings Lewy to tell him he is running late but Lewy doesn’t pick up because he is running late. Confusion reigns at the Hawksbury meeting point until Lewy’s landing lights came into sight (aka the touring pack). He joined Hydro, Tones and Peterr D for the ride across the Mountains to the destination for the evening, the Lithgo Workies.
Straight to the Bar (because it shuts at 9) for beers and food. Hydro tees up breakfast wit assistance from his new mate from the workies.
As usual everyone up early. Hmmm what to do as Russ wasn’t there until 8.30. A ride up to Hassan Wall with the obligatory photos and then back down to the Tin Shed for breakfast. With precision timing Russ arrived in time for the order.
As Tony only had half of today to ride, Hydro promised there would not be much dirt and we proceeded up the Jenolan Caves road, detouring to Rockley and up to Blaney where on reflection about 50% was dirt (Hydro benchmark for not much). Tony had some excuse for having to go back home but was later seen on his 67th lap around Mt Panorama at about 6pm.
The Awesome Foursome (a kind of Venn diagram intersection of the Foxes and the intruder) continued on to Wyangala Dam. Took the Album shots and then onto Cowra. The services motel was perfect. Sat outside for 3 hours and imbibed some fine wines and then headed to the Imperial for dinner. Not sure of the conversation due to the aforesaid imbibation but Pete could probably fill the blanks in. Finished up with a fine Basket Press wine and a discussion about Llamas.
The next day, all up early. A hearty breakfast at Maccas as that was the only place open and then a tour of either orange or cherry blossom trees. Hydro has many varied interests. We then cruised up towards Orange crossed the highway and then 200kms of dirt riding, until we hit the Sofala Pub where the town social committee put on lunch for us. At this point Hydro said we should do the Kandos, Glen Davis Loop as it would only take us half an hour out of the way. 100kms later we came out near where we started but saw some great countryside….and on sealed roads. A quick goodbye at Lithgow and there ended another great Fox Adventure.
