Short trip today. We leave Furnace Creek on Highway 190 East and then turn right onto Highway 160 towards Shoshone and Parump, Continue on Highway 160 which will connect with Interstate 15 and bring you into Las Vegas.

Rider meeting over another breakfast of plastic scrambled eggs and coffee rung out of a sock. You wouldn’t want to pay for this…..oops, Boxy did notwithstanding he employed the sophisticated negotiating techniques of a man with 30+ years of corporate life, “but the others didn’t pay?”. He then sought adjustment to his loan account from the Treasurer. However, the Foxes are neither a support group or a charity so request denied and a caution handed out not to get caught like that again.
About 140 miles today. We took off early. Singo on a mission and led the Foxes across the desert. Sadly they failed to respond to the ‘moderate’ pace being set. A rev up at the first drinks brake failed to revive their spirits. It was hot & dry, Hydro’s ‘Desert Air & Precipitation Meter’ registering 100deg. We dawdled towards LV at pedestrian speed. “We just want to enjoy the view!” They said. But it doesn’t change in the desert whatever speed you do! Anyway we moved on and entered the outskirts of Las Vegas & with some chaotic lane changes arrived at the Tropicana about 11am. Russ parked his bike in the orthodox way today.
With no rooms available we did the obvious thing, hit the pool bar. One needs constant hydrating in the desert. The service was superb (friendly waitresses ) so we hung there for a couple of hours. Lunch was compliant with Boxy’s health diet, a full tray of fried seafood. We checked in at 1pm & fell asleep. Dinner at the Chinese restaurant at Mandalay Bay and then off to our show, Raiding The Rock Vault. Amazing! Lots of famous oldies performing rock from 70/80’s. After the show, we returned to the bar for a nightcap. We are getting really good at this! Andy Riches arrived so had a few more with him. Russ & Mike (the debutant) have gone on a tour of Vegas (details tomorrow). Rest of us gone to bed. Zion NP tomorrow.
