Marrakech to Cascades d’Ouzoud – 13 May 2023 (255kms)

First up we’d like to acknowledge our Facebook likes. We can do this as there are not very many. Still, we carry on. Thanks to Henrietta, Pia, Michellle, Jane, Ben, Bekky, Jennie, David, Randy, Nat, Julie Ann, Misella, Jill, Nick, Robin, Will, Peter, Fergus, Paul, Heidi, (Dan, Breadworks) & Di. To our other viewers (we know you’re out there somewhere), give us a shout out, there are only two days to go!
Leaving Marrakech at 9. Its a flat run through the landscape this morning.
We are all focused today on our tachometers. There continues to be some competitive attitudes surrounding efficient riding & appropriate gear changing. It escalated the other night when the Gibster addressed the group and counselled that if you weren’t riding around 7,000rpms, you were probably under geared. You could have cut the air with a knife. At most, the rest of us are maxing out at about 5,000. Hana is shaking her head. We are all looking at our feet feeling most disconsolate. At this point, and in an amazing flip, Hana asks the Gibster to return his keys on the basis that his bike will be destroyed if he keeps riding like this. She notes he must be riding at 100kms/hr in first gear. The Gibster reconsiders and acknowledges he may have over egged his comments. “It must be the parasite in my guts”.
Guess what’s for lunch….yep, Tagine!!
A quick and curvy ride after lunch to our destination in the mountains – a Kasbah.
A couple of hours in the pool. Not just any old swim. We took on the might of the local young Moroccans to a swimming race and gloriously thumped them. Singo is the secret weapon. Swimming crooked down the pool to knock out the competition. Russ & Andy then cruised into 1st & 2nd spots. High fives all around! and then a walk to the Cascades before dinner. Pre-dinner drinks on the rooftop. Dinner at the Hotel.
A big day on the bikes tomorrow.
