Ait Ben Haddou to Taroudant – 9 May 2023 (296kms)

Blue skies and 24 degrees as we start our ride early. With wind chill factor, riding is very comfortable until our first stop at 10. Projected to be 42 degrees, so we have decided to take quickest route to destination.
The landscape is wide and open, ringed by a volcanic mountain range.
A couple of stops along the way to rehydrate. Starting to feel like the frog in the boiling pot at 11.30. Getting hot at 33 degrees. Safron & Argan oil for sale.
The final couple of hours was tough. Temps up to 43 degrees at 1.30. Breathing hot air.
Up ahead we see visions of a walled oasis, green foliage, pool & bar. Its our hotel!! Good decision to get here early. Afternoon spent catching up on emails, swimming & lounging at the bar.
It was also a good opportunity for Russ and Singo to practice their French with the staff. They clearly thought we were native speakers by the way they looked attentively and then broke out into smiles……but the wine and olives came to the table as ordered and the other Foxes were totally impressed. Singo in a momentary lapse mistook the olive pips for cashews and took a mouthful…oops. Second indiscretion in two days.
Dinner at the hotel and an early night. David regaling us with stories of his Orca Suit (wet suit).
