Malaga to Tarifa – 1 May 2023 (226kms)

The Foxes were out early to prepare their bikes and work out what to put in the top box. Do we just take our daily needs or do we need our linen shirts snd shorts for post riding activities? We Departed the hotel at 9ish (Singo was so excited he forgot to pay….oops and had to negotiate some contra trades with David to prevent being arrested at the border , and enjoyed acclimatising to our new bikes with a curvaceous journey over the barren mountains. Everyone is riding well and the roads are in good nick. There are some teething problems with riding on the right side of the road and roundabouts going the wrong way.

A coffee break after an hour or so and then a stop at Parq Natural to take in the views of the mountain ranges.

Lunch today is a restaurant high in the mountains near Ronda. The discussion over lunch was about our survival, particularly focussed on how we are going to get a drink in Morocco. Momentarily, Boxy disappears, does a deal with the owner of the restaurant and their entire wine stock is emptied into our van! We probably own the restaurant as well.

Tarifa: is a Spanish municipality in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia. Located at the southernmost end of the Iberian Peninsula, it is primarily known as one of the world’s most popular destinations for windsports. Tarifa lies on the Costa de la Luz and across the Strait of Gibraltar facing Morocco.

A quick Walk around old town which is lively and attractive. Boxy, Gibster and Russ went for a photo session on the isthmus separating the Atlantic Ocean from the Mediterranean Sea, while Mike went walkabout to the Waikiki beach hut and checked out the surf.

We met at 7 and David & Hanna led us off to a steak restaurant hidden in a backstreet of the old town. The wine flowed & so did the conversation. Covered a lot tonight. Gibster asks who decided a wine bottle should be 750mls rather than 1.5L. We agreed to look into this. 🤪

We laugh, we take the piss. It is a wonderful night!
