From Rolla we continue our ride deep into the Ozark Mountains, which occupy most of southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. We ride through the towns of Lebanon and Conway and make a stop in Carthage to see the old beautiful courthouse before we enter the state of Oklahoma. Containing more miles of the old Highway than any other state and in far better condition, this is a Mecca for bikers and old-road fans out here, We ride all the way down to Tulsa, where we overnight. Baxter Springs is a must for a Jesse James Bank Robbery recreation and Catousa if you enjoy tourist attractions (The Big Whale).

Rider meeting at 8.30 to brief on tornado strategies which, when unpacked, amounted to keeping your helmet on, wave your hands above your head and run for a ditch! Let’s Ride!
Today was a big one, 320 miles. Fair to say, it was a tough day. The Foxes were buffeted with strong cross winds for most of the day and it was tough to hold your line (very important apparently if u are to be considered a worthy rider).
The highlights today included the stop at Baxter Springs where the Foxes re-enacted the bank robbery by Jesse James. The film is still in production but I can tell you that Sean (Tone) threw everything into it and unfortunately doesn’t come out of it well. Singo has been sent to ‘Making robbery mask class 101’. We then wandered down the street to the sight of the tornado 10 days earlier. You can see the mess it made through a very narrow strip.
Our final stop for the day was the blue whale (a bit like our big banana) and every bit as exciting. We met the owner. Nothing more to say other than we are becoming very good at photos.
Our final run into Tulsa, arriving at 8pm absolutely stonkered. Straight to the restaurant for a fine dinner at Ruby Tuesday nearby. Lots of laughs as usual.
