Horrowgate to Monsal Head – 23 May 2024 (235kms)

Its a slow crawl this morning to our coffee stop in Rishworth at the Malthouse. 51 miles in 2 hours says it all. We have passed through small winding roads & small stone villages. The sky is grey. A couple of areas of mist & light drizzle.
The rain now kicks in again. Its another 50 miles to lunch. Again, the countryside is beautiful but hard to take it all in. Somewhere along the way, Steve & the mini have disappeared. Now Tony’s gone AWOL.
We find each other & lunch is at The Angler’s Rest at Bamford, a community pub.
At this point Singo & Boxy have a cunning plan. We’ve had enough of this wet weather stuff, heading straight to the Hotel. They execute & check in early to the Monsal Head Hotel.
The benefit of the extra time is that they locate the quaint little pub, Packhorse Inn, Little Longstone, down the road & book it for dinner.
The others do the 2hr long route version.
Back at the Monsal, we have a few drinks before heading to the Packhorse Inn to mix it with the locals & dinner. A nice way to finish off our tour.
