Leaving Ulvik this morning – Photos, briefing, fuel & we’re away. We enter the Hardanger NP – barren watery landscape. The descent was a cracker. Great fast riding. Last chance to flog the bikes today. “Hardangervidda Hardangervidda (English: Hardanger Plateau) is a mountain plateau (Norwegian: vidde) in central southern Norway, covering parts of the counties of Buskerud, Hordaland and Telemark. It is the largest plateau of its kind in Europe, with a cold year-round alpine climate, and one of Norway’s largest glaciers, Hardangerjøkulen, is situated here. Much of the plateau is protected as part of Hardangervidda National Park. Hardangervidda is a popular tourist and leisure destination, and it is ideal for many outdoor activities. Hardangervidda National Park IUCN category II (national park)” Lunch at Gelio.

We have now turned inland to Oslo. The Foxes understand that this is our last chance so its a mad scramble across the flat terrain to Kongsberg and then onto Oslo. Wendy & Janelle have taken a chance on the back of Hydro’s bike during the course of the day. They described the experience as “exhilarating & terrifying all at once.” Hydro called it an impediment to good riding. The structure of the group at this stage has disintegrated. With a whiff of finality in the air & the promise of several G&T’s, the group has split and its every man for himself. Russ, as back up navigator, has absolved himself of any responsibility & with his nose in the air, gone straight for the hotel. Singo, Boxy & Mike have tapped into Google maps & performed a perfect entry to the hotel. Gibbo stopped without notice to explore architectural trends. Never seen again until he arrived at the hotel in tow with Domenico. Lewy & Hydro have arrived in a distraught state having mistakenly diverted onto a 15km gravel slippery slope. Everybody alive & safe .The Scandic Holmekollen Hotel is a cracker. We are settled into the lounge. The feeling is euphoric. 12 straight days of riding to get here. We have travelled nearly 5,000kms.We hand over the bikes to Domenico and then to dinner. Some very vacuous speeches made & we are gonski.

Thanks to Russ for all the organisation & Hydro for his wonderful leadership. To Bek & Trudy, thank you for your driving under difficult circumstances. The rest of us performed our roles as required. Until next time, this has been another GREAT FOX ADVENTURE!
