Unofficial Trip #1, 2021 Wisemans Ferry
Our first outing for 2021! 1 January and we are off to the Wiseman’s Ferry Pub to clear the cobwebs.

Unofficial Trip #2, 2021 (Avoca Hijackers)
Unofficial Trip = 4 or more Foxes. Less than 4 is just practice. A quiet trip for 3 (Russ, Singo & Tony) came undone when the Nth Turramurra chapter (Hydro & Lewy) got word and insisted on adding value by coming along. By adding value, Hydro recommended that we impose ourselves on two of his friends who have a lovely property at Ellalong in the Hunter Valley and eat their food and drink their wine. So we did and had a great time. The lengthy, undulating & loose gravel driveway was a mini challenge. Thanks John & Sandra for your hospitality and to Hydro who brought most of the food. The ride up to Wollombi, down Jilliby Road around Wyong was very scenic. Hydro keeps finding these amazing tracks! He’s back!!A bit of light rain but no major issues. 2 Unofficial rides in the first 9 days of 2021. Awesome ![]()
MLK MEMORIAL RIDE Unofficial Ride #3, 18-19 January 2021
Starters: Boxy, Hydro, Russ & Singo
Day 1 Started well. Hydro & Lizi’s 29th Wedding Anniversary so the 4 of us sat at the end of the bed & watched whilst Lizi had a cup of tea. It did feel a bit weird at the time. Congratulations were dispensed & Hydro, with “ok that’s enough” led the charge to the bikes and a couple of days of riding.
Weather was perfect as we traversed the Berowra Ferry followed by the Sackville Ferry and headed north up the Putty Road & through the Hunter Valley onto Denman (lunch at the pub). The afternoon ride was sublime. We navigated the Yarrawah Rd across country (unmarked road, no traffic) arriving Mudgee about 4pm.Shower and then onto Paragon Hotel for a few drinks. Dinner at the Cobb & Co motel tonight. A night of jocularity…..of course.460kms today. Foxes are in ebullient mood. As an aside, Br Lewy has advised that his riding opportunities with us will be limited going forward as he has committed to a new role. Celebrations all around.
Day 2 It is a magnificent morning; it portends well for a wonderful day of riding. We leave Mudgee after breakfast and head across country to Hill End and then to Sofala for a quick tourist visit of the gold digging towns. Next stop Bathurst and onto Lithgow via Sodwall Rd (the Tarana Road). Then it happened.
Boxy’s Big Bash The road is a typically scenic and we approached a tight left hand bend which had been badly potholed by the recent rains. Boxy has hit a mighty pothole. Unfortunately he had little alternative as a Ute came racing around the bend taking most of the road. His Bike goes into a rapid tank slapping episode and, foreseeing the inevitable, throws himself clear and executes a double pike and twist whilst sliding about 5 metres. The next few minutes are a blur. At First Responder Russ’ insistence, Boxy drags himself off the centre of the road and staggers to the side. He is in shock. White as a ghost. (Boxy that is, not Russ). Russ resurrects the Harley and pushes it off the road whilst Boxy assesses the damage (to the bike not himself). What to do next?
Unbelievably, on this minor road, an ambulance appears around the corner. It stops and attends to Boxy who is sure he’s ready to get up and ride out of here. A quick decision is taken by the Foxes Recovery Squad…..He is strapped down and taken to Nepean Hospital. As the ambulance drove away we could vaguely hear Boxy mumbling “I’m a celebrity get me out of here”. We had warned them of his condition. Trudy concurred with our decision and said she would catch up with him in a week or so….something about wedding plans are a priority. Russ rode Boxy’s bike into Lithgow (without running out of petrol). Lizi (Robbo) McGeorge has hitched the trailer and is hightailing it from Sydney to Lithgow to pick up the Bike. Legend. The level of support to which Foxes wives are asked to commit to. We escort her home.PS. Boxy had several broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Surgery the next day to secure titanium plates to a few of the ribs and partial cut out of lung. His recovery is impressive. Home in 3 days. Unfortunately he has taken to circulating naked photos of himself, maybe a little too frequently, to show us all how bruised he is. Facebook are considering removing him from the platform unless he desists!
Regrettably, at this difficult time, the Committee have had to caution Boxy who received 2 more demerit points. The trip didn’t work out as planned but dare I say…..another great Fox adventure.
